HOW TO FILE ANNUAL RETURNS FOR THOSE WHOSE ARE PAID THROUGH COMISSION (INSURANCE AGENTS)

This  is my first time filing returns and also using kra portal but i  took it as personal challenge .Iwant to perfect my skills in tax filing since the task are simple only that some kenyans donot own computers .Cybers take this as busines oppurtunity actually what motivated me  is i was regretted by a NAIROBI Based cyber because i dont posseses necessary skillS/knowledge to navigate various portals kra and online management systems timis ifimis agpo ghris  and nairobi city portal.The owner of cyber also challenged me whenever i spend my time online i should atleast make money (legally).

So i put my ad on facebook and got some clients who wanted me to file their return .They wanted i file for them nil returns and also ITR (income tax returns employment only).But i got this lady who told me to file for her and she work as agent in insurance company.I got confused,but i took it as personal challenge to learn how to file for her .

Here is what  i learnt :

  CHECKLIST 

1.All withholding tax certificates 
2.Kra Pin 
3.itax password and obiviously a pc 

PROCESS

The first process is same as filing normal returns difference is when you are fiilling the exel sheet
1.Login to your itax account KRA PORTALand enter your ur pasword and the security stamp
2.GO to RETURN>File returns >choose the FY 2016/2017>Income tax -resident
3.Then download  the zip file

Open the excel the zip file in your computer, On the basic information, please say YES

to having any other source of Income. Enter the gross amount on the profit and loss sheet. on sr 1.1 NB GROSS AMOUNT IS TOTAL ALL AMOUNT THE AGENT EARNED ANNUALLY









On the balance sheet SR no 1.1 put any number e.g. 1 and also put the same number on SR 7.1.1
















. Input the withholding tax on the Tax Computation sheet SR 13.4.





Then validate after filling all other information and upload.
It is that simple not hard at all istead of wasting awhole day at kra offices

The Government of Kenya has launched a 15B business competition for youths dubbed ‘MbeleNaBiz’ that will see a total of 75o youths benefit from the kitty.
